In a great article by Adi Developments, titled "Debunking the Myths: Condo vs. Freehold", author Samantha Sutton describes the benefits of condo-life, which include access to certain amenities, security and the ability to live fairly anonymously without your neighbours knowing whether you are home or out on vacation.
Condos are not for everyone, thats for sure. But right now, Winnipeg is in a bit of a condo-surplus situation, with nearly 800 condo units (not counting the hundreds of new units under construction) up for sale. That has put a lot of down-pressure on the prices, and condos which sold last year for around $165,000 can sometimes be purchased in the $140K range.
