Up until recently, I had been against the idea as to whether to allow UBER into Winnipeg. My reasons were simple: we regulate the taxi industry, make sure they conform to our requirements, get the cabs to install safety shields, pay high taxes, etc etc.
But recently I spoke with a friend who had used UBER in other cities, and she enlightened me to a few facts. In her opinion, UBER provides super fast service, is a safe service and has relatively cheap fares. What she liked about it especially, is that if her children where at a party and had a few too many, they could easily call UBER and be assured a quick ride home.
What are YOUR opinions on whether we should allow or invite UBER to operate in Winnipeg?
