Holding an open house CAN be an effective part of your selling strategy, (although it should not be the main hook on which you hang all your hopes).
The key to holding a successful Open House is the promotion of the event. Go beyond simply hanging out the Open-House-Sign.
Promote it on Facebook, kijiji, real estate newspapers and more. In the end, understand and expect that the majority of your open house attendees are probably not ready to buy just yet. They might be curious neighbours, people looking for ideas on how to stage their homes, and other 'tire-kickers', but you may also get lucky and catch the eye of a qualified buyer.
